Mommy's Swimmer

This summer, we've been spending 2 to 3 days at the pool. This week, Will decided he no longer wants to swim in the baby pool. Yay! He's on his second week of swim lessons and doing very well. He puts on his life jacket and goggles and away he goes! He's also learning how to swim without a life jacket and just a swimming noodle. He gets around pretty well, considering last summer he would only sit on the stairs! He's come along way, and we are so proud!

Here's a clip of Will going down the slide at swim lessons tonight. On Tuesday afternoon, he went down the slide all by himself with no one there to catch him. He will only do that when wearing goggles. I'll be sure and have his goggles with us next time!

It's the Weekend!

The weekend is finally here. It's been a busy week for all of us. Daddy is back home after a week long business trip to New York (we're glad he's back). The kids and I made several trips to the pool and spent much of our week time with family. Will began swim lessons on Monday, which by the way he is loving very much! He's made a point to tell me several times today he can't wait to go back on Monday. I'm not sure if that's because he met a sweet little girl named Marisa or if he really wants to learn how to swim in the big pool.

Our house is coming a long. Blake and I met both the plumber and electrician this morning. They should both be at the house working next week. Hopefully we'll have shingles on the roof and windows installed too!

We went out to the house this evening. Will was so excited to see we had a roof!! He's very anxious for it to be finished. He and Shelby enjoy every minute we are there. They love walking through the house and exploring around the creek.

Roof Under Construction

It is hard to believe three months ago we had nothing but land on QR. The framers are constructing our roof and will probably have it done by the end of this week (weather permitting, of course). We have such hard working men and are so thankful for them. I don't know how they are surviving this hot weather! I guess men who work in these conditions all summer long have to get used to it!

2S Hosted by Blue Grass Airport

Yesterday, the Blue Grass Airport hosted a 2S event. They opened a new runway to the public. Anyone could run, walk, bike, skate, and stroll the runway. Blake had a scheduled flight that afternoon so we dropped him off at the airport and then headed over to the event. We were able to watch airplanes land and take off on one of the adjacent runways. They had antique airplanes, a helicopter, fire trucks, and more on-site for viewing. The kids had a lot of fun. I even got an interview with the Herald Leader and made it in the paper! I must say we had a fun and eventful weekend!

GABBF

If you're from Danville, then you know GABBF stands for Great American Brass Band Festival. GABBF is taking place this weekend. The weather has been better than expected, and thus far it's been a weekend full of fun activities.

On Friday, we went to the hot air balloon race. Unfortunately, the balloon race did not take place. The winds were too high. Due the weather, the race got rescheduled to Sunday evening. We did, however, get to have a picnic, and fellowship with friends and family. The kids got to play, while the adults watched a marching band perform.

On Saturday morning, we headed downtown to watch the GABBF parade. The kids enjoyed listening to the marching bands. At one point, Shelby climbed out of the wagon and started dancing on the sidewalk. The one time I wished I had my video camera!

I get chills each time I hear music and American soldiers stand in salute of our great nation. We live in such a wonderful place. A place which we often take for granted.

My future Miss America!

My handsome little man!

On Saturday evening, my niece and nephew stayed at our place and watched the kids, while we ventured downtown to listen to music. We sat on the lawn of Centre College, listening to many great brass bands until the sky turned dark. It was definitely a great experience!

5 Year Checkup and House Update

Will had his 5 year checkup on Monday. Doctor said he was healthy, and everything checked out great. He's grown 2 inches and gained 5 pounds. Thank you God for healthy children!

Our house is moving right along. As of Tuesday, about 75% of the walls were up. We are so happy with how it is progressing. We're hoping it will be under roof next week.

Splish Splash

We are all having a great summer. Since there is very little to do in this small town, we decided to get a pool membership this year. Will and Shelby get to play with their cousins and have a great time in the pool.

So I've learned something new. Never buy one toy for two kiddos to share! Shelby wanted this float all to herself and was not willing to share with Bubba.

On our way back from Virginia, my mom found these two chairs for Will and Shelby. They are Dora and Handy Manny. You would think they were made of gold! They play with them everyday. Shelby had a fit at the pool yesterday when two other kids sat on them!
