Valentine's Day Weekend

On Friday, Blake and I went to the YMCA Valentine Fundraising Dinner‏, while Mom kept the kids. It was nice to get away and it just be the two of us. I know the kids enjoyed Mimi's company.

On Saturday, the four of us had dinner at a local mexican restaurant. I am excited to say Will ate a cheese quesadilla for the first time! A new food for him is a HUGE deal!! A milestone I should say.

On Sunday, I woke up to a beautiful arrangement of tulips and a few other sweet valentine treats! After church, Will and I had a game date at the bowling alley (he certainly earned it after eating a cheese quesadilla!). Each time he eats a new food that is his reward. Just he and mommy get to go bowling. Later that night the four of us had dinner at the Cracker Barrel and then we browsed Lowe's for house building ideas.

February Over the Years

Looking back over the years....

2002 - Out first pet. Blake and I named her "Fussy".
She was the most whiny cat! Exact reason for her name!

2003 - Me making Valentine's Day cards for friends and family.

2006 - Will at 9 months.
Always a smile on his face and so full of energy!

2007 - Will at 1.5 years. Mommy's WILDCAT!

2008 - Will at 2.5 years! A cold, snowy day on Symons Circle.

2008 - Mommy 4.5 months pregnant with Shelby Kate!

2009 - Will (3.5 years) and Shelby (7 months) with Daddy.
Mommy's three special valentine's!

We Love Visitors

We had some special visitors this weekend. Blake's parents (Papa and Nana) came to town on Saturday. Will and Shelby had not seen them since Christmas. It was certainly a treat for all of us! It was their first time visiting since we had left Lexington.

Will and Shelby were excited to show off their rooms, especially their toy room! It's their first play room so they (me included) absolutely love it! Although this home is just a temporary place for us to live, Will and Shelby are so proud to call it home.

There's not much to do in the small town of D, so we made the drive up to Lexington for a little bit. We walked around the mall, shopped a little, and then headed back home to eat dinner at a local favorite. I believe the last time I ate there, I might have been in high school. It was as good as I remember. There will definitely be some carry-out meals coming home with us!

Dinner was great!

Night, Night

"Night, night" time is quiet time around our house! We look forward to spending quality time with each other. I find this time to be very special because Will and Shelby are so young and their minds are like sponges. They know so much because of what they have been taught.

Will usually reads one book with Mommy or Daddy and/or he'll watch one of his favorite shows (Chuggington seems to be a hit these days!). One of us will lead him into a nighttime prayer. It is the sweetest thing to hear a 4.5 year old express his thoughts and feelings, while taking them to the Lord in prayer. He never fails to mention all the special people in his life! Or how he enjoys the beautiful trees and blue sky.

Will also enjoys listening to music. He has listened to the same music CD for the last 4 years!! And, yes, he will notice if you try and change it! Will is a super bight kid. It's hard to believe he's reading some books on his own. He'll be starting kindergarten in the Fall (which makes Mommy sad). Where has all the time gone??!!! His preschool teacher says he is very smart and he'll do very well in school.

Shelby is learning new things each day. She is able to call out many objects from her books (e.g. boots, truck, balloon, duck, bee, hat, coat, and more). She is able to identify parts of her body (including nose, eye, cheeks, chin, ears, hair, leg, arm, fingers, hands, and back. She loves to brush her teeth. Blake and I will never forget the first time he asked her what was in her mouth. His reason for asking was he thought she had picked up a small object and placed it in her mouth. She told Daddy, "Teeth!" What a smart little girl!

You will probably find Shelby carrying a book around the house at all times. Books are her new best thing. She loves to cuddle! I call her my cuddle bug. She hasn't been one of the best of sleepers lately (growth spurt maybe?). Mommy doesn't enjoy having to get up from her own bed at night. However, I will say the hugs and kisses I receive while lying down with Shelby are PRICELESS! She makes it all worth the while.

This is an antique rocking horse my mother gave me several years ago. Sometimes you'll find Shelby alone rocking on this horse. It is so sweet!

I will cherish all of these memories forever!
